Women's League of Rutgers University
Established 1932
Welcome to the Women’s League of Rutgers University (WLRU).
The WLRU was formed in 1932 by Nathalie Clothier, whose husband Robert was then serving as president of Rutgers University. She created the group to welcome newcomers to the Rutgers community, and to provide social and cultural contacts and programs for women staff, faculty, and faculty wives.
The group developed over time, and in 1983 awarded its first scholarship to a Rutgers student. Today the mission of WLRU is to provide educational and social programs to its members—luncheons with faculty, book talks, trips to cultural and historical sites in New Jersey—and to raise scholarship funds for Rutgers-New Brunswick Undergraduate students.
With proceeds from our programs, generous donations from our supporters, and interest from our endowed accounts, we award ten scholarships annually of $1000 each or more.
