Please join us! Invite folks you know who might be interested in learning more about WLRU. This reception is an opportunity to gather in an informal setting, enjoy home baked treats, get to know our new members and also meet potential WLRU members. This is a perfect occasion to encourage women you know, who wonder about who we are and what we do, to meet us and enjoy a social evening. All are welcome.

ANNUAL GARAGE SALE
Place: 420 Lincoln Avenue, Highland Park, NJ Save your “stuff”! The treasures you find in your attics, closets, and hidden corners for inclusion in our sale will support WLRU Scholarship Awards. Items donated for the sale will be accepted at 420 Lincoln Avenue, Highland Park, NJ after 3 PM on Friday, September 13th. We also need your help with set up (Friday), sales (Saturday and Sunday), and cleanup (Sunday afternoon). It is a social time for volunteers with food provided. This is a significant fund raising event for our scholarships. Remarkably, last year’s sale earned close to $5000. Hope to see you there. October: TBA! trip to Zimmerli Art Museum for tour of Smoke and Mirrors, a major special exhibition focused on issues of accessibility and featuring the work of artists with disabilities.

THE HALL-MILLS MURDER CASE
This program will focus on the Hall-Mills murders, a famous case that occurred in New Brunswick in September, 1922. Joe Pompeo, author of Blood & Ink, and John Meyer, author of a play, Thou Shalt Not, will speak with us about this notorious local event.

A CONVERSATION WITH PAST WLRU SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTSThis will be our second annual ZOOM conversation with six Rutgers grads from 1999 to 2018 who were recipients of WLRU Scholarship Awards. They will talk about their post-Rutgers career experiences -- successes and challenges. This program offers an opportunity to learn about the impact our scholarships have and the wonderful young people we support.

ZIMMERLI MUSEUM TOUR
Our tour will focus on the work of Alonzo Adams, whose exhibit at the gallery ends February 25th.The artist describes himself as a Griot, a storyteller, who aspires to capture the contemporary Black experience. We will conclude with coffee and desserts.
